Recently, I got my good on packing meals with Blessings In A Backpack, an organization that provides weekend food to children on free or reduced lunch programs. Did you know over 62% of US public school kids are ON those programs?? I adopted the school district in Hazard, Kentucky, and financially support the Blessings food program there. My dad and I recently went to check in on how it’s working there and I was really, really happy with what I saw that day. The kids, and the organization are really amazing! Miley introduces us to a young woman Rachel; they met during her Global Youth Service Day project at Make-A-Wish’s World Wish Day. Rachel is a former wish recipient and now she is a Make-A-Wish ambassador.

This month, in the lead up to the National Conference on Volunteering and Service, Miley Cyrus, YouTube, Get Ur Good On and Service Nation want you to create a video for a nonprofit organization that promotes service and volunteering. We’ll take the top three submissions and put them on the YouTube homepage at the end of the month.

Miley got her good on for Global Youth Service Day 2010 (GYSD) at the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s World Wish Day event. She had a special meet & greet for 30 Wish Kids at The Grove in Los Angeles and performed “The Climb.”

Brooke was selected to meet Miley from GetUrGoodOn.org and she brought her friends Ginny and Blair with her. She is a strong believer in the idea that kids are the future and has dedicated much of her time to spend with the children at her local elementary school. She volunteers in classrooms to teach and tutor young kids and wants to be a good role model for them to look up to.

Miley sang her hit, The Climb, at The Grove, where they celebrated Make A Wish foundation’s, World Wish Day.

She also talked a bit about Make A Wish and GetUrGoodOn.

Sources say that, Miley only performed one song, as there were other performances lined up.

Kevin was selected on GetUrGoodOn.org to meet Miley. He and his friends made desserts for the homeless. They also helped an elderly neighbor by raking her yard and taking out her trash and recycle bins. Check out the part when Kevin talks to Miley about her new movie, “The Last Song.”
